Sardinia!

Ciao! As the hosts of next year’s ARA trip to the beautiful Italian island of Sardegna (Sardinia), Dan & Kathy Swacina are pleased to share with everyone the details of the trip they have been planning with Roberto. We have availability for 60 guests on this year's trip. We will be staying the entire time at the beautiful 4-star Hotel Catalunya in Alghero, Sardinia, and touring from there on a single double-decker tour bus each day. A detailed itinerary of the trip was published in the August Afterburner. We have planned for ALL meals to be included in this trip.
The finalized cost of our trip is just 1,525 Euros, which at today's EXTREMELY favorable exchange rate (1 Oct 2022: 1Euro = 0.98USD) equates to less than $1500 USD! These exchange rates are the lowest in the history of the Euro. One year ago today, the exchange rate was 1Euro = 1.16USD, which means the trip would have cost $1,770! The single supplement for the trip is 320 Euros.
Once again, as a reminder, we are very sorry to say that the terrain we will be traversing will be rugged and we cannot accommodate guests with wheelchairs, walkers or other limiting mobility or medical issues. Many of the archaeological sites do not have handicap accommodations and, because of limited advanced medical facilities available in the local area, many critical health care issues would require medical evacuation to Rome. Because of all these factors Tours by Roberto CAN NOT accept guests with these limitations on this year's tour.
As announced earlier, Susan Combs has set up a pre-Sardinia AmaWaterways river cruise of the Danube (Budapest - Vilshofen) for our group. A “brochure” and application form for that exciting additional option has already been emailed to all ARA Members .
Roberto can reserve extra hotel days before or after our trip dates at the discounted rate of 90 Euros per person per day, which also includes dinner at the hotel!
All rooms allocated to us by the hotel are Classic Double rooms. An “upgrade” to a Deluxe Double room is available for an additional 320 Euros. These two rooms are the same, with the exception of the Deluxe Double having a harbor view and the Classic having a city view. Some of our allocated rooms have only a bathtub, a shower only or some have a tub/shower combination. We’re asking you for your preference in bathroom type, and we’ll work with the hotel to TRY to accommodate those requests.
