Reunion Dates & Deadlines:
CIAO 2020 Aviano Reunion Participants!
Well, we tried to roll out our crystal ball and make a solid prediction on the state of travel for September 2020, but we failed. These past few months have been challenging for everyone, especially for our ARA members, most of whom are the “older adults and people with underlying health conditions, the most at risk for COVID-19.
Following discussions with our excellent tour guide, Roberto Bechi, your leadership team has concluded that there is still just too much uncertainty to continue with plans for a 2020 Italy reunion.
We also discussed the possibility of having a reunion somewhere in the USA this Fall, dismissing that idea because of the difficulty of pulling off a successful reunion on such short notice. Plus, no one can accurately predict the COVID status from state to state. We agreed that the best thing to do is postpone our Italy reunion to the Fall of 2021.
We are now working with Roberto to pick the best date that will allow us to have the same itinerary to include the visit to Aviano Air Base, attend the Marostica live chess match, and the other events as scheduled for this year. Roberto will contact the reunion hotel and sites on our current schedule, coordinating the move to 2021. We are also going to try to coordinate the 2021 cruise schedule with an option that departs from the port of Venice on the morning after our reunion-ending banquet. This change will save each cruiser the extra hotel expenses between reunion end and cruise start.
Stay safe, everyone!
