| REUNION TOUR HIGHLIGHTS |
This year our
group heads to Northern Italy's Lake District and then back to our roots
in Aviano, Italy. Roberto and Patti have developed another
fascinating itinerary full of local history and incredible beauty. Included
tours
:
*
Villa Carlotta with its famous garden and statue by Canova, and
the Villa Del Balbianello, a former convent which
today is a fairy-tale-perfect villa with an amazing garden and with
views over both gulfs of the lake.
* Como
and Villa D’Este. We’ll
visit the renowned Villa D’Este, an architectural jewel that was the
16th-century residence of European aristocrats. This lakeside villa is set
in a picturesque park, a place that has won the hearts of travelers for
generations. We’ll have a walking tour of the city center and famous
gothic-renaissance cathedral.
* Half-day tour of Verona, the City of Romeo
and Juliet, with its beautiful
Roman arena, medieval streets, and characteristic piazzas.
* Tours of Asolo--a splendid hill-top village with origins dating back to
prehistoric times, but lasting through the Roman and Renaissance periods--and Castelfranco,
a fortified medieval city
surrounded by a protective wall, which was once a major center on the
trade route from Germany into Italy.
*
Return to Aviano with plenty of time to see "our" former homes
and apartments, visit with old friends and landlords, and eat at old favorite
and new restaurants. We hope to tour Aviano AB, as
well. Stay tuned for more information!
